There are currently 2,051 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. with 203 people in hospital, 57 of whom are in intensive care.
There have been no new COVID-19 related deaths with B.C.’s death toll remaining at 1,722.
As for vaccinations, 74.2 per cent of all adults in B.C. and 71.9 per cent of those 12 and older have now received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. In total, 3,685,340 doses of vaccine have been administered in B.C., 345,508 of which are second doses.
Despite the drop in cases, the Provine has formally extended the provincial state of emergency. The state of emergency is extended through the end of the day on June 22.
“A more normal summer is within reach, but we still need to be careful,” said Premier John Horgan. “We have seen how quickly case counts can rise if we let our guards down, so I urge everyone to keep following the public health guidance to keep each other safe. The sooner we all get vaccinated, the sooner we can advance to the next step of BC’s Restart and safely get back to all the things we enjoy.”
