Five Colonels Earn All-American Scholar Honors
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Five EKU student-athletes were chosen as Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars.
The five Colonels were seniors Ragnhildur Kristinsdottir and Vilma Efraimsson, junior Bailey Hubbard, sophomore Elisa Orduna Shackleton and freshman Mattie Jo Neeley.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA for selection is 3.50.
"This is a great honor for these five players to be recognized not only for their performance in the classroom, but also their high character and success on the golf course," Head Coach Mandy Moore said. "It has been amazing to see how well they handled the challenges of this past year and I'm very proud of them for their continued hard work and the standards they have set for our team."
No other Ohio Valley Conference or ASUN Conference program had more than EKU's five honorees.
Kristinsdottir was selected to the all-conference team after leading the league with a program record 72.89 stroke average. Hubbard had the 10th best stroke average in the conference this past season. Efraimsson and Orduna Shackleton both compiled top-20 EKU single season stroke averages.
Kristinsdottir earned a degree in finance. Hubbard completed her degree in biomedical sciences. Efraimsson finished her degree in art/design studio. Orduna Shackleton is majoring in sport management and Neeley is studying nursing.
A total of 1,432 women's collegiate golfers from across NCAA Division I, II and III were recognized with the prestigious honor.
