Maryland football is projected to have a few key players that could elevate the program this upcoming season as the team looks to take another step in the right direction after a 2-3 record in 2020.
There were five Terps named to Pro Football Focus’s Big Ten preseason teams for 2021. The most notable mention on the list was junior defensive back Nick Cross, who was a stud on defense for Maryland last season and tallied one interception through four games. He was placed on the preseason Second-Team for the safety position.
Wide receivers senior Dontay Demus Jr. and sophomore Rakim Jarrett were both listed as preseason Honorable Mentions out of all the Big Ten’s wide receivers. Sophomore defensive back Tarheeb Still was the second Terp listed on a preseason Second-Team as a defensive back for the Flex D position. Lastly, junior defensive lineman Mosiah Nasili-Kite was also named a preseason Honorable Mention as a defensive tackle.
Maryland’s season kicks off against West Virginia in College Park on September 4. The Terps have 12 games listed on the schedule for next year and the first Big Ten opponent they will face off against is Illinois on September 17, the third game of the regular season.
