The Sûreté du Québec’s major crime unit, which is handling the investigation, says his life is not in danger.
A vehicle was the target of the shooting, which took place shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Pivoine St. The vehicle tried to flee but wound up in a ditch, said SQ spokesperson Jean-Raphaël Drolet.
Four people in the vehicle were injured and transported to hospital, Drolet said. The driver was seriously injured.
The SQ said the child, whose age could not be confirmed Monday morning, was in the yard of a nearby residence.
The suspect fled and barricaded himself in a house. The 37-year-old was finally arrested around 3 a.m. and was questioned by investigators.
