That’s 13 per cent more than the 701 reported Friday. Quebec’s 7-day average for daily COVID-19 cases now stands at 706. There are 600 active outbreaks in the province.
Five new deaths have been recorded in the past 24 hours, Santé Québec also said. Some 301 people are currently being hospitalized for COVID-19, an increase of three from Friday’s tally. Of the latest number, 90 patients are in intensive care, an improvement of one.
Among the newly diagnosed, 567 were either unvaccinated, or received their first dose less than 14 days ago. Another 36 had received only one dose, and 192 of those who tested positive had received two doses. The government notes that those who are unvaccinated are 8.5 times more likely to be infected than someone who has received two doses.
