PRINCE GEORGE – Housing complexes like the one at the corner of Highway 16 and 97 are just two examples of what is happening in this city and the numbers reflect it. $163 million dollars worth of building permits so far this year.
“I don’t think we’re maxing out,” says Mayor Lyn Hall. “Our economic projections from folks who are in that buinsess have indicated to us that we’re probably going to see things continue the way they are anywhere from two to four to five years.”
Contractors are still bullish on Prince George but say a pair of concerns are stymying any further development. One is staffing shortages in the City’s Development Services department stalling permits and, two, getting supplies. Everything from hardy board to insulated concrete foundations to paint are in short supply.
But, for the mayor, it is about more than just dollars on a piece of paper.
