Free agent left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez has reportedly agreed to a multi-year contract with the Detroit Tigers.
Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic was first to report the agreement. MLB Network's Jon Heyman reports the contract is for five seasons. ESPN's Jeff Passan reports that the deal is worth $77 million.
The Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angels had reportedly shown interest in the 28-year-old starter.
In 31 starts with the Boston Red Sox in 2021, Rodriguez had a 13-8 record with a 4.74 ERA, 185 strikeouts and 46 walks over 157 2/3 innings. He had spent his entire six-year career with Boston and was a member of the 2018 World Series championship team.
The Red Sox tendered Rodriguez a qualifying offer and will receive draft pick compensation in return for losing the lefty to Detroit.
