Wood Buffalo RCMP charge five people following drug trafficking investigation - Fort McMurray Today

Two Fort McMurray men have been charged following a drug trafficking investigation by Wood Buffalo RCMP and the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT), while police continue looking for three other local men.

Police confirmed on Nov. 12 that on Oct. 21, officers seized from a Thickwood home soft body armour and what they believe to be cocaine and shatter. Two men were arrested at the house.

A third man at the house ran away from police when he was told he was being arrested. Police say the man got into his vehicle and nearly hit an officer as he drove away. Cpl. Lacey Blair, spokesperson for Wood Buffalo RCMP, said no officers were injured.

Police have arrested and charged Jordan Irvent Curlew, 21, with two counts of trafficking cocaine. Adrien Georgy Hyde, 22, has been charged with a single count of trafficking cocaine.

Police are looking for Tristan Samual Scanie, 24; Donald Harvey, 22; and Joshua McGrath, 20.

Scanie is charged with trafficking cocaine, failure to stop for police, the dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, escape from lawful custody, two counts of failure to comply with conditions, alter cannabis and possessing body armour without a valid permit.

McGrath has been charged with three counts of trafficking cocaine, while Harvey has two cocaine trafficking charges.

Hyde has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in Fort McMurray Provincial Court on Nov. 23. Curlew remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Fort McMurray Provincial Court on Dec. 14.
