As of Monday, 167 people are in hospital with 13 in ICUs.  Of those infections, 67 hospitalizations are the result of a COVID-19-related illness while 52 are incidental, and the remaining 35 are yet to be determined. In ICU eight are related to COVID-19 while the remaining five are incidental.

Of those in hospital, 34.1 per cent of patients were not fully vaccinated.

There were 1,374 new infections from 3,374 tests, according to the province, making the current testing positivity rate 39.92 per cent. The seven-day average has also increased by 42 to an average 1,169 new infections per day or 97 new cases per 100,000.

People in the 20 to 39 age range accounted for 40.9 per cent of all new infections.

Under the current policy laid out by the government, officials have warned that daily testing is likely to only catch around 30 to 40 per cent of active cases on a given day. This is due to reduced access to PCR testing and encouraging use of rapid antigen testing, which is not accounted for in the province’s daily reporting of cases.

New cases published on Monday were located in the following zones: far north west (13), far north east (10), north west (27), north central (69), north east (38), Saskatoon (409), central west (22), central east (99), Regina (380), south west (44), south central (54) and the south east (86). Of the new cases 176 have pending residence information.

In terms of active cases, Saskatoon leads the province with 3,522 active cases reported at this time. Regina is in second with 2,948 active cases and the south east is in third with 867. All told there are a reported 11,642 active COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan.

No new deaths from COVID-19 have been announced since Jan. 6. A total of 961 people have died from the virus during the pandemic.
