What’s a cold weekend in Saskatoon without activities to keep you busy and warm? If you’re hoping to stay indoors, watch some live music, take in an art class or support local producers. If you’re hearty enough to venture outdoors, bundle up and snowshoe at Wanuskewin or catch the last days of the BHP Enchanted Forest.

1 — See a live jazz-inspired performance

The Prairie Roots Ensemble presents Ellen Froese in a concert that blends Froese’s songwriting with jazz-inspired arrangements. The Prairie Roots Ensemble includes Emmett Fortosky, Rory Lynch and Colin Grant. Saturday over live stream at 7 p.m. Learn more at ontheboards.ca .

2 — Take a drop-in art class

Remai Modern offers drop-in art classes for all ages Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. RBC Creative Space on Saturday is free with membership or admission and features activities based on current exhibitions. Something on Sundays is free to attend and features new artmaking activities each week. Learn more at remaimodern.org .

3 — Support local at the Farmers’ Market

Saturday and Sunday are the first days to visit the Saskatoon Farmers’ Market in 2022. Connect with local producers for fresh agriculture products, baking, prepared foods, crafts and diverse goods. Learn more at saskatoonfarmersmarket.com .

4 — Snowshoe at Wanuskewin

Wanuskewin Heritage Park is offering patrons the opportunity to snowshoe the trails this winter. Included in the cost of admission, a limited number of snowshoes can be borrowed at the Interpretive Centre. Drop-in programs and self-guided tours are also available. Wanuskewin is open all weekend, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Learn more at wanuskewin.com .

5 — Drive through the Enchanted Forest lights

Sunday is the last night to get out and see the BHP Enchanted Forest lights display. A joint presentation by the Saskatoon Zoo Foundation and the Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation, it is one of the longest running Christmas light shows in Canada. The holiday light tour provides a safe, socially distanced tour of light displays around the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park. Learn more at enchanted-forest.org .
