The Sudbury Five basketball team have finalized the roster for Monday’s home-opener game at the Sudbury Community Arena against the Windsor Express, for which tickets are still available.
“I’m really excited with the group we’ve brought in,” Sudbury Five head coach and general manager Elliott Etherington said in a media release issued earlier today.
“It’s a hard-working group and they are all great character guys. We come to practice and have high energy. I am ecstatic to work everyday with this group and I can’t wait to see what the season holds for us as we work together towards our ultimate goal of a championship.”
The roster includes 11 active players, including centre Evan Harris, who is originally from Los Angeles, Calif, and now calls North Bay home. The full list of active players can be found by clicking here.
Also included among their ranks is Cedric Kasongo, who recently signed with the team following a training camp. A native of Welland, Kasongo attended Cape Breton University, where he played basketball for four seasons. The 6’5” guard comes to Sudbury after spending time playing for the Cestostica Ostuni in Italy earlier this season.
In a media release, the team also cites fan favourites Jaylen Bland, Dexter Williams Jr., Josiah Moore and local Georges Serresse as returning to the court.
Braylon Rayson, meanwhile, is currently playing in Europe and has shifted to the team’s inactive roster. He is expected to return to the team at the end of his season in Europe.
Monday’s game will begin at 2 p.m. and tickets are available at greatersudbury.ca/tickets or by visiting the Sudbury Community Arena Box Office beginning at 11 a.m.
