The Five will rematch their National Basketball League of Canada rivals, the London Lightning, in a St. Patrick’s Day matchup on Thursday at 7 p.m., before hosting The Basketball League’s Jamestown Jackals on Friday in another 7 p.m. tipoff. The Sudbury squad wraps up the weekend against the NBLC’s Windsor Express, Sunday at 2 p.m.

Sudbury has been missing several players due to COVID-19 protocols since the end of February, but most were expected back in the lineup this week.

Owners of a 3-4 record, the Five have yet to lose on home court this season, having defeated Windsor in the home opener on Feb. 21, then the Lansing Pharaohs on March 5.

After beating the KW Titans on the road last Friday, 100-93, the locals fell in London on Saturday, 117-92. Guard Jaylen Bland topped 30 points in the latter contest, marking the second time this season he has hit that mark. The Saginaw, Mich., product leads the Five with an average of 27 points over three games. Jason Calliste is next at 20.7 PPG, followed by Zena Edosomwan with 18.7, Dexter Williams Jr. with 15.7 and Jeremy Harris at 15.

Fans are encouraged to wear green for Thursday’s contest, which will feature several St. Patrick’s Day-themed activities and prizes.

Friday’s game will serve as a fundraiser for humanitarian efforts in Ukraine, with $2 from every ticket going toward Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal. Fans are encouraged to wear yellow and blue.

The Five will host their second annual Baby Race on Sunday. One baby will win a $250 prize pack, compliments of the Real Canadian Superstore, and bragging rights as Sudbury’s fastest baby.

Tickets for all three games are available online at www.greatersudbury.ca/tickets and at the Sudbury Arena Box Office. Vaccine passports are no longer required for entrance, but all fans are required to wear masks unless actively eating or drinking.
