1 — Take in a dinner-theatre play
Mini Fridge Theatre presents Hate Mail by Bill Corbett and Kira Obolensky. In this comedy directed by Elizabeth Reynolds, after Preston writes a furious letter to a store that gets assistant manager Dahlia fired, he finds a vengeful letter-writing match.
The dinner theatre performances are held at St. John’s Anglican Church Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m., and April 14 and 21-23. Learn more at minifridgetheatre.com.
2 — Attend a U of S art reception
Gordon Snelgrove Gallery hosts a joint closing reception for two U of S BFA exhibitions Friday, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Eva Francis-Work’s exhibition, some days you’re the clown, uses circus art to work through ideas of opposition, femininity, self-expression and identity. Leanne Read’s Viral Strain is inspired by the consequential circumstances of the pandemic, and the effects on mental health brought on by restrictions and isolation. 3 — Have fun at a carnival fundraiser
Kids of Note, an all-abilities choir for children and youth who love to sing, hosts a family carnival this weekend. The event includes a choir performance, a magic show, balloon creations, juggling, face painting, games and snacks. The carnival runs Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at St. Matthew School. 4 — Celebrate National Wildlife Week
Hosted by the Saskatoon Nature Society, the Young Naturalists have a birdhouse workshop program for National Wildlife Week. The program is open to all ages, and activities are geared toward five- to 11-year-olds. Make your own birdhouse as we prepare for the seasonal return of bluebirds and tree swallows. 5 — See a chamber music performance
Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra Chamber Ensemble presents and all the days were purple, a performance with Saskatoon soprano Jardena Gertler-Jaffe. The performance merges classical music with Yiddish and English poems and meditation. Sunday at the Jewish Community Centre at 2 p.m. It will also be available on live stream.
