Five-year-old cyclist injured in Dundas crash - Hamilton Spectator

A five-year-old boy was taken to hospital Friday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in Dundas.

The boy was on his bicycle around 3:20 p.m. on Cross Street between King Street and Park Street West when he was hit by a vehicle.

Hamilton’s paramedic service said the child was taken to a pediatric trauma centre in stable condition.

Hamilton police are investigating the incident, but no further information was available early Friday evening.

The collision is one of several in the Hamilton area in the last 24 hours, including a five-car collision on the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway on Thursday night that sent five people, including a child, to hospital and closed the road for hours.

Emergency services also responded to several more minor collisions Thursday, including a collision between a school bus and a car on Upper Wentworth Street that sent a man in his 20s to the hospital with minor injuries. No children on the bus were hurt.

Paramedics also report they responded to a collision on the Linc on Thursday evening near Highway 403, and a car versus bicycle incident on London Street and Dunsmure Road. Neither incident resulted in serious injuries.

After the five-car crash on the parkway Thursday night, Hamilton’s paramedic services asked motorists to have more care on the roads with the long weekend coming up, a time of year they dub as the start of “trauma season.”
