DENTON – Five North Texas football players have been named to the Conference USA preseason watch list, the league announced Monday.
Wide receiver Jyaire Shorter, offensive lineman Jacob Brammer, defensive lineman Dion Novil, linebacker KD Davis and long snapper Nate Durham were selected to the list by the 14 Conference USA head coaches.
Shorter played in only three games in 2020 after suffering an injury. As a freshman in 2019 he was an honorable mention All-Conference USA selection after catching 24 passes for 473 yards and nine touchdowns.
Brammer started all 10 games last season and was the leader for an offensive line that helped the team rank No. 8 nationally in total offense. He was a second team all-conference player in 2020.
Novil is one of the most talented defensive linemen to play at North Texas in recent history. He earned first team all-conference recognition in 2020 and honorable mention in 2019. He will be a four-year starter this fall.
Davis will be a three year starter this fall after leading the team in tackles last year with 75. He was an honorable mention all-conference player as a sophomore in 2019.
Durham will be in his fourth year as a starting long snapper this fall, and has twice been named to the Conference USA honorable mention team as a long snapper.
North Texas will kick off the 2021 season at home against Northwestern State at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 4. Season tickets, mini plans and single-game tickets for the 2021 season are now available online.
