16 New Cases Added In Five Health Zones - 91.9 The Bend

New Brunswick reported 16 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday spread across five different health zones.

There are eight cases in the Moncton region, two in the Saint John zone, and three in the Fredericton area.

There are also two cases in the Bathurst region and one case in the Miramichi zone.

Eleven more people have recovered since Tuesday. There are now 115 active cases, including one person in the hospital.

Public Health said 900 people are self-isolating due to either testing positive or an identified case contact.

“Some of the new cases have spread from the Moncton region, or Zone 1, to five other health zones in our province,” said Dr. Cristin Muecke, deputy chief medical officer. “We are noticing this is mainly among those who are not fully vaccinated. In fact, in the Moncton cluster, 94 per cent of our cases are among those who are not fully vaccinated. We need these people to get vaccinated to protect themselves, their families and those who cannot get vaccinated, such as children under 12.”

Public Health said 71.9 per cent of eligible New Brunswickers are now fully vaccinated while 83.6 per cent have at least one dose.
