B.C. is reporting 743 new cases of COVID-19 and five further deaths, including one in Interior Health, over the past 24 hours.
Of the new cases, 143 occurred in the Interior Health region.
Elsewhere, there were 265 new cases in Fraser Health, 69 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 196 in Northern Health and 70 in Island Health.
Hospitalization numbers have risen once again, up to 360 on Friday, with 137 of those patients requiring critical care in ICUs.
To date, B.C. has reported 192,491 total cases of COVID-19.
The province has 5,969 active cases.
Most (62.7 per cent) of the new cases in the past week have been among the unvaccinated. Out of 4,667 total cases from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6, 2,925 were unvaccinated, 313 were partially vaccinated and 1,429 were fully vaccinated.
For hospitalizations, 68.9 per cent of 450 patients admitted from Sept. 23 to Oct. 6 were unvaccinated, while 7.8 per cent were partially vaccinated and 23.3 per cent were fully vaccinated.
Adjusted for age, fully vaccinated patients have been admitted to hospital at a rate of 2.4 per 100,000, compared with unvaccinated patients, who have been admitted at a rate of 48 per 100,000.
To date, 88.6 per cent of all British Columbians over the age of 12 have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 82.2 per cent have received two doses.
